To assign a worker to something, say, a guard post, you first go into Workshop mode. Approach the person you want to assign to the guard post and hit the appropriate button for “Command.” From there, go to the guard post and hit the appropriate button for “Assign.”
Fallout 4: How to Assign Workers – GameTipCenter [7]
In Fallout 4, getting your town to grow and run smoothly means getting your settlers to perform some of the work in town.. You’ll need to assign them to work on food production, water production, town defense.
To assign one of your settlers to work on something, first pull up the build menu (the one that allows you to build items in town), and then walk around town to find the settler you want to assign. You’ll notice that in the build menu, a new “Command” prompt will be available when you put your cursor over a Settler in the town.
Select the assign prompt onto the item and wait a few seconds, and you’ll see a message come up that shows that the item has been assigned.
How do you assign workers? [8]
I’m tearing my hair out trying to complete the Old Guns quest. I’m at the point where you need to get the artillery up and running, but the only guy in the base is operating the transmitter and I can’t assign him, and there’s no one else around
Not there yet but maybe you need to recruit more settlers first ?. I had four people there at that point so I just assigned one of the guys wandering around
There’s definitely no extra people wandering around/sleeping inside the castle?. Something popped up while I was near some crops to assign someone so I’m guessing you have to be in the building mode, be next to the needed bench/item and when the person is close it will come up?
Fallout 4: How to Assign Workers [9]
One of the best features of Fallout 4 is settlements—a sandbox element of the game that lets you build it any way you like. You must keep your settlement in order and your settlers happy, who can assist you by performing various tasks
Settlers are survivors you’ll find in various worksites and settlements across the world to grow your settlement. They each have a backstory, such as being former Diamond City citizens, scavengers, raiders, or Synths.
Each settler in Fallout 4 can have a number of roles and become an integral part of the community once you assign them to perform a specific task.. You can assign workers in Fallout 4 to defend the settlement from dangers like mutants or raiders, while others can be shopkeepers and farmers
How to assign people to tasks? [10]
As discussed here – in order to assign a worker to a resource you must be in workshop mode and then approach the person you want to be the worker, speak to them and “command” them:. …then go to the location you want them to work and you’ll have the option to assign them to that post.
The person icon will go red again if you reassign a person who was already assigned to another task, or that person is currently not performing that task (ie: sleeping). Unfortunately, there is no method of seeing an overview of all tasks your settlers are currently assigned to, however you can see what each individual is assigned to if you have visibility of that individual and their assigned task – this picture will show you what I mean:
Supply line [11]
Supply lines can be created between settlements to share resources and inventory among them, by assigning settlers as provisioners in Fallout 4.. – The two settlements must not already be (directly) connected with a supply line.
– When building at a workshop or using a crafting station inside a linked settlement, one can craft using the Junk, Aid and Misc (Miscellaneous) items in the inventories of all linked workshops from all linked settlements (junk is automatically scrapped and does not have to be scrapped first).. – Excess food and drink (either produced or in inventory) will be used to supply all the settlements in the supply network
– In the Pip-Boy “Workshop” menu, the game will show actual shortages for individual settlements with warning triangles, which causes unhappiness, but if the category is green, then the network is supplying the shortage.. – Provisioners can double as friendly patrols and will engage enemies that obstruct their paths (if the player is in the vicinity)

How to start supply lines and move settlers in Fallout 4 [14]
How to start supply lines and move settlers in Fallout 4. One of the questions we often get is how to start supply/trade routes between settlements and consequently how do you move settlers between your settlements in Fallout 4
We have some more guides about problems with settlements:. There are many reasons why you would want to establish supply routes
This means that if you have a surplus of one crafting material (back in Sanctuary for example), but you want to build stuff in a new settlement with nothing in its workshop inventory and you have a supply line going, you will be able to use resources stored in Sanctuary. You might want to have one settlement entirely dedicated to trade and all your settlers are busy tending to their shops
settler auto-assign? manual assign? [15]
Does everyone turn of auto-assignment, and then search for unassigned settlers after building a plot of whatever they need?. Any time your question starts with “Does everyone” the answer is no
Like the training hub idea Yaugie referred to is something I do and talked about.. I play on manual assignment, I don’t use city plans, I pcik what I build and where I build, who works and lives where and even how they dress or at least enough that I can easily see what their job is when I see them (all my industrial workers have miners or hard hats, guards wear armor etc).
Unnamed settlers stats are most likely 1s with a 2 and maybe a 3 if you’re lucky, named vanilla settlers tend to have a more even distribution with some weird exception (see Mama Murphy when you get the chance) and I haven’t looked at enough SS NPCs to really make a judgement (other than I would personally rework them to fit their backstory better).. So until then I just assign mostly randomly or based on what I feel the character story fits and once I get the tools I go back and try to optimize but I normally fast track the SS2 story (I’m mostly testing) so for me it’s normally with only a few settlements that I developed before that
Dive into anything [16]
Trying to start a Mellon farm and I want to plant 120 Mellon’s. Last time I attempted this I gave up because it was a bitch trying to fucking assign them all
Seriously Bethesda, couldn’t they have done a more better job with assigning shit and farming in general? Stuffs confusing me. Planting Mellon’s is such a pain because I can barely see them on the ground and when I try to count them, its easy to lose track and forget if I counted the one behind me or not

Here, we’ll be explaining the best ways to keep on top of Dweller happiness, plus we’ll explain Dweller SPECIALs, dweller breeding, and the best dweller placement.. The main way to get more Dwellers is through breeding them
Breeding, on the other hand, is a certainty, and a method which can allow the number of your Dwellers to grow exponentially.. Two Dwellers will decide to embark on a romantic snuggle if you place a male and a female together in the Living Quarters room
Fallout 4: Old Guns walkthrough [19]
What’s the use in an old fort without suitable armaments? After taking over Fort Independence in Taking Independence, it’s time to dress up the place with some firepower. Like clockwork, a military vet, Ronnie Shaw, arrives to show you the fort’s useful facilities
Follow the waypoint indicator to the pile of gravel blocking one of the paths. There’s a lot of loot to collect, but there are also a lot of mines to dash from
When you’ve eliminated the bot, Ronnie will open the security door, leading you to the armory.. Once inside, take whatever weapons and gear suits you
People – Settlement Resources – Workshop Settlements [20]
Information about People – a settlement resource representing the number of settlers in a settlement – in Fallout 4.. Settlers are the engine of production in a settlement
Almost all of these tasks either generates resources for their settlement or profit for the player, both of which are worth pursuing.. First, before you can assign settlers, you have to attract them to your settlements
Once turned on you’ll passively attract new settlers over time, up to a maximum of ten settlers plus your Charisma score. A player with 5 Charisma can attract up to 15 settlers per settlement; anything that modifies your Charisma (such as gear or chems) will increase the number of settlers each settlement can attract, so keeping some Charisma-boosting gear isn’t a bad idea
Fallout 4: how to build the perfect settlement [21]
In a lot of ways Fallout 4 feels very familiar to its predecessor – you’re still wandering a ruined US shooting mutants and collecting stuff. However, one significant improvement is the ability to tidy up parts of this disorderly wasteland and make them liveable
However, while the system is impressive, the interface is fiddly. If you find yourself several hours into the game and wanting to rebuild your first few hamlets from scratch, you may have a laborious process ahead.
The settlements system is a major part of Fallout 4, and it’s clear the designers don’t want you to miss it. Unless you’re especially contrary, you’ll likely stumble into the quest that introduces settlement building in your first day out of the vault.

How to connect your settlements in ‘Fallout 4’ [24]
Creating massive, custom settlements is an awesome addition to the “Fallout” franchise.. But while settlements are useful for gathering all your resources in one place, it’s generally more helpful to access your stockpiles of goods from any settlement: That way you won’t lose time constantly traveling back to the same town just to drop off some junk or pick up a weapon.
Supply lines can only be established once you’ve reached the sixth tier in the “Charisma” upgrade tree, which showcases the Local Leader perk. You’ll need the first rank in that Local Leader perk to get started.
Then, activate your workshop menu — the button you hold to start building resources for your settlement. If you highlight over one of your settlers, you should see a “Supply Line” button option
