How to Unlock Primal Ancient Items in Diablo III – GameSpew
Getting the best items is what Diablo III is all about.
While you can have fun cutting down legions of enemies with legendary or even rare items, if you want to play comfortably on high Torment difficulty levels or push yourself as high as you can go in Greater Rifts, you’re going to need the best equipment you can get. You’re going to need Ancient items, and the best of those are Primal Ancients.
While Ancient items boast increased stat bonuses and other enhanced effects, Primal Ancients push everything to the max. They’re truly the best items you can get in Diablo III providing they have the rolls you find the most useful, but to make them available in your game you need to unlock them first.
To unlock Primal Ancients in Diablo III, you need to complete a level 70 Greater Rift on your own. That means finishing it before the time runs out, allowing you to upgrade your Legendary Gems. It’s truly a test of your abilities, and even with a complete class set and other powerful items you might possibly struggle. Our advice? Try to be at least Paragon Level 400 before even really trying. And also make sure you have a good Hellfire Amulet and some levelled up Legendary Gems.
Once you’ve unlocked Primal Ancients with one character, they should be available for all others on the same account. Be aware, though, that they need to be unlocked independently in each mode. For example, if you beat a level 70 Greater Rift with a Seasonal character, you’ll unlock Primal Ancients for all Seasonal characters but not standard characters. They’ll not drop for Hardcore characters, either. Also be aware that there’s an extremely low chance for them to drop – don’t be expecting to get one every time you sit down to play.
